“Slight Work” gives me a slight feeling of déjà vu…

Actually, I get a severe, as opposed to slight, case of déjà vu while watching the video for “Slight Work?”

Even before seeing this visual, I thought the song, off Wale’s Ambition, sounded like a knock-off of “Look At Me Now.” Diplo produced the Chris Brown smash hit, and understandably, wanted to replicate the success of that song with Wale. The audible similarities between the two are undeniable.

When I watched the video, I thought to myself, “Wow, Colin Tilley must have directed this, too.” In actuality, Chris Brown directed this, not Tilley, who directed “Look At Me Now.” Again, the visual similarities between the two, just like the audible ones, are undeniable.

I mean, of course the video for “Slight Work” is trill. I’m not saying it isn’t. It looks identical to “Look At Me Now,” so of course it’s trill. How’s that for a backhanded compliment?

Compare it to “Look At Me Now:”

Hot video – Juicy J “This Bitch By My Side” #TrapTuesdays

Juicy J’s latest music video from Blue Dream & Lean is allegedly set in Hanoi, Vietnam, aka in the same random room where he shoots all his videos, but with this time with a Vietnamese chick. But whatever.

I always thought “The Bitch” in “The Bitch By My Side” meant firearms…

Blue Dream & Lean is still my favorite trap tape, which you can hip yourself to here if you haven’t already. It’s like 28 tracks long, which explains the sheer volume of music videos that I keep blogging from it.

Download – Juvenile & DJ Smallz Mardi Gras Mixtape #TrapTuesdays

Disclaimer: I haven’t listened to this, but today is Trap Tuesday AND Fat Tuesday, as if that has any bearing on what I plan on doing tonight anyway (it doesn’t). Naturally, Juvenile decided to drop his aptly titled Mardi Gras tape today, since it’s Fat Tuesday and all. Funny how that works, isn’t it?

Sadly, I don’t need to listen to Mardi Gras to know that it isn’t as great as “Back That Azz Up,” my favorite song, ever, but it still sounds like a gallant effort on Juvie’s part. Nothing will be as good as “Back That Azz Up,” even if Mardi Gras somehow manages to win a Grammy, which we all know is equally impossible and irrelevant to good music.

True story, I kind of forgot how much I loved “Back That Azz Up” until DJ100proof dropped it at #jetsetpdx last Friday and I kind of lost my shit. Just another typical night out for me, though.

Stream Mardi Gras below:

Hot video – Gucci Mane ft. Yo Gotti “In Love With a White Girl” #TrapTuesdays

Unfortunately, me, as a white girl, was not included in Gucci Mane and Yo Gotti’s awkwardly amazing video for “In Love With A White Girl.” I don’t know where they did their casting for the white girls, Everett Mall maybe? But I could have put these heauxs to shame. Just saying.

In case you’re wondering, I’ve since removed that lovely Twitter picture of myself with the ice cream cone tatted on my face. I’m that salty. AKA I was lying around being tired and fucking around with all the cool filters on that Camera+ app on my iPhone. AKA what I really mean is that I was selling dope off the iPhone like Ricky Rozay. I’m done. No, really though, I was just screwing around on the Camera+ app because it’s super trill.

Hot song – Marcus Manchild ft. Yo Gotti & Scarface “U Ain’t Trill” #TrapTuesdays

I can’t say that I know much about Marcus Manchild, other than he’s from the south and had a video for a song named “Bad Ass Yella Boy,” which I found ironic because there’s a group out of Seattle named Bad Ass Yella Boyz, or BAYB for short. In case you’re wondering, I found the crew to be more trill than the song.

Anyway, “U Ain’t Trill” is kind of a trill song, despite the letter-instead-of-whole-word thing going on in the title (that shit makes me uncomfortable!!). I don’t know who produced the cut that features Yo Gotti and Scarface, but it sounds pretty trappy off my crappy office speakers.

You can listen to it at Vibe Magazine, here.

Marcus Manchild explained the song, which you can listen to it at Vibe Magazine here, saying:

It basically getting on most of these rappers that are in the industry right now who speak on shit they know nothing about or not doing. You hear the “hustler” rappers and you see the rappers that claim they got all the b*tches but don’t have no b*tches, or they’ll say they been here but never been there. Its just a lot of people whether it’s rappers, actors, basically any person who you feel ain’t trill and they keeping about this and that were saying it in this song.

What if one person (A) who thinks they’re trill, isn’t trill according to another person (B)? And to muddle the water more, what if B thinks he’s trill, but isn’t trill to another person (A)? It’s all objective…and now I’m confused. That ain’t trill.

Hot video – Juicy J “Drugged Out” #TrapTuesdays

I swear, Juicy J must have filmed a bunch of music videos at the same time or something, because this kind of resembles scenes from other videos (see: Hella Juicy J music videos from Blue Dream & Lean for #TrapTuesdays). Regardless, I feel like filming a shitload of videos for a project just might be the way to go, whether or not people watch them.

Kreayshawn, V-Nasty, and Future make appearances in “Drugged Out,” off Blue Dream & Lean. This video reminds me that I need to order a We Trippy Mane shirt still. Maybe one of these days I’ll get around to stop talking about ordering it, and order it.

OMG can you guess who this is???

Dirty Money – Nicki Minaj from JAMES DELGATTO on Vimeo.

I’m sure now you can, since it’s been on every blog in the world (no exaggeration…) but trust that it was still fresh last night while I watched in during commercials for Desperate Housewives. A vintage Nicki Minaj. Different teeth, different boobs? If I’m not mistaken, this would be the Nicki that Nicki paid homage to in “Dear Old Nicki” off Pink Friday.

Hot song – Rihanna ft. Chris Brown “Birthday Cake (Remix)”

Ironically, today IS Rihanna’s birthday, and the remix of “Birthday Cake” featuring her former lover turned abuser Chris Brown is here.

It isn’t quite as fiery as I had hoped, but it’s still aplenty scandalous. OMG what if everything they’re saying is real?

Last week I had hella malware on my site, so I don’t really feel like embedding any players. Download the “Birthday Cake (Remix)” from youheardthatnew.com.

Lil Kim calls Nicki Minaj a “Stupid Hoe” on Watch What Happens Live

I don’t know why this makes me laugh so much, but Lil Kim calling Nicki Minaj a “stupid hoe” was extremely, extremely funny to me. It’s like Kimmy is almost being vindicated or something after Nicki’s terrible performance from the Grammy’s.

Sure, I think their beef, that Nicki Minaj is largely responsible for continuing, is stupid, but homegirl kind of walked into that one, making that terrible song called “Stupid Hoe” with the terrible video that was later banned by BET. Ah, the irony.

Hot video – Miguel “Adorn”

Miguel is kind of the shit, and not because he flipped out on Twitter about not being nominated for a Grammy. I haven’t really been that interested in Miguel up to this point, even when he was on tour with Usher, probably mostly because I was late and missed his set altogether. To be honest, this is the first Miguel song that I really like, but I really like it.

“Adorn” is catchy, and the video is pretty! He combines his great song with pretty lights and original artwork, although it’s a little abstract for my taste. I prefer more pop art-y or street art stuff. Miguel is clearly also influenced by artwork, too, because “Adorn” is off Art Dealer Chic: Vol.1, that’s supposed to drop on the 27th of this month (that artwork is actually the cover for it).

Again, I’m going to be honest when I say that super close-ups of teeth like that make me uncomfortable. Am I the only one?
